Link posting was brought up by a friend, he asked if I had any idea what was so great about it.

You know how there are some things in life that we know we should do but don’t end up doing it? well yeah… this was one of those things.

After some thought I came up with 3 reasons why Link Posting can be a great thing, and should be done regularly.

1.Build Your SEO -

Search Engines love to see posts linking out to quality content (sites with authority quickly come to mind, like wiki, ehow, and so on.

Another way to increase SEO with links, is using related keywords as an anchort text to your internal and external links.

example;

Learn More On Building Links For SEO —> The words I chose to use to paste the link into (Building Links For Seo), is my anchor text.

2. More for your readers -

By linking out to sites with authority, you’re also assured that the content is trustworthy. Your readers get more value, and you have more happy readers readers, which means they are more likely to come back to your site.

3.Connect With Other Bloggers -

If you happen to find a related post on the topic that you’re about in another blog, link to it.

Connect with that blogger. Look for a post in his website that could be linked to one of yours (because they are related in topic), then ask, the worst thing he could say is no.

If he says yes, both of you win, both have happier readers and the chance to build a bigger audience.

You make excuses, the infamous “i’ll do it tommorrow” self speech, social media and the list goes on.

By implementing these rules I’ve been able to finish more work in a shorter time span. I want to share the lessons I have learned to help you boost your productivity and accomplish your goals.

Don’t Let Perfection Get In The Way!

Wanting perfection has it’s pros and cons. I had the tendency to review and over analyze my posts , constant editing and on and on. I would spend 30 minutes trying to find a word that would make a sentence flow better (i would do this with several sentences…you do the math). Then I would (and still do) ask my wife to proof read. She can tell you, writing is not my cup of tea but I ABSOLUTELY love teaching others and encouraging them to pursue their dreams.

Sometimes the pursuit of perfection became an overwhelming and painstaking process, to the point that I would take a week, and several hours worth of work to finish a 900 word post.

My point is Do Not Let Perfection Stop You.

If you have a project that is “done”, but you keep yourself from finishing because you feel the need to keep changing bits and pieces, its never going to get done. In the end you’re going to have to sit down and honestly judge if it’s time to let go.

Goal Planning

I know this is a pain in the butt at first, but once you get this done you feel the weight come off your shoulders, you can breath easier, and you will save yourself a lot of stress. There’s nothing worse than to be confused and not know what you have to do next. You waste time trying to figure it out and once you get that project done the stress deriving from confusion starts all over again.

There are 3 simple steps to make the most out of goals:

1. Write down your goals.

Writing your goals down for the day is good, writing your goals out for the week is great! The more you plan out, the clearer the picture will be.

2. Prioritize your goals.

Number your goals, number one being the most important. The more important the goal, the higher the priority.

3. Place a due date on every goal.

This will give you another level of self-accountability.

Delegate

Hire other people to do the small work so you can have more time to do the important stuff. For those of you saying that you don’t haver the money, you would be surprised what professionals will do for a few dollars. I knew of a couple of entrepreneurs in college who would get people with P.H.D’s to do their papers for $5! And yes they got A’s. By hiring others they had more time to work and grow their companies.

Rest Well

Last but not least is resting. Don’t ever expect to be give your full potential on something if your not well rested. Your not as mentally sharp, emotionally balanced, and as full of energy with a good night’s rest.

An adult should be sleeping anywhere from 7-9 hours a night to get a full rest.

Naps in the middle of the day are great too, these naps should not be more than 20 minutes, any longer and you will start feeling that “groggy” feeling. If you’re at work and don’t want to do it on your desk or in the break room, then go to your car, put your cell phone alarm on, and take a 20 minute nap privately in your car. It is well worth doing.

In part one of this series, I talked about the importance of building a loyalty program and placing positive anchors. This part will be talking about building anticipation, thank you calls and building a community environment.

The Power Of Anticipation

This will be done through 3 steps;

1.Choose a reward that will interest your niche

2.Place a date on the release of the reward

3.Follow through by giving the reward on the specified date.

The reward doesn’t have to be expensive, make sure it’s an item that most customers in your niche are interested in. Before we go forward, we need to do the math to make sure we are not taking too big of a loss.

Example: lets say you own a membership site in the weight loss niche, you charge $29.99/month, and you know your average stick rate (how long they stay on average) is 3 months. So that’s an average of $89.97 per customer. You started with 100 members, and because the average drop off rate at the third month is about 30%, that would bring your total count to 70 members at month 3. There is a reason why I’m emphasizing month 3, you want to deliver the reward before they contemplate on leaving. We all appreciate gifts and rewards.

Next we choose a reward that our niche will find of interest, in this case we are working with the weight loss niche (keep in mind this item can be something that costs you nothing, like a free webinar, a teleseminar, a video or a cd… all of these are valid and it would make the math much easier). The reward will be a set of exercise bands that will cost you $20 plus $4 for shipping, so $24 per person.

The questions is, is $24 worth it to keep a $29.99/month customer longer?… hell yeah! so we go ahead and complete step number 3, send out the reward on the specified date (in this case it would be the third month of their membership stay).

The customer will be halfway in (a month and a half) and thinking to themselves “im already halfway to the price, why quit now?”. The neat thing is you could do this again and again. Say your next big drop off date will be the 6th month, to retain a higher amount of customers follow the 3 easy steps again.

The benefits achieved by applying this method are more than worth it. You will see a lower drop off rate, which means more customers and more people to buy your upsells! They will stay longer and keep paying your monthly membership rate. It’s a win win situation, you keep getting paid for your products, and they keep their quality product that will help them achieve their goals.

The Thank You Call

There is nothing like a real person talking to you in the other side of the phone, when your call or get called by customer service.

Having said that, call them on the same day of the purchase. If they dont answer leave a message. Tell them how much you appreciate their business. How many times has a business called to thank you? It’s rare. Take advantage of that and show how far you would go for your customer.

3 things to note:

1. Tell them – that you will be calling and what number the caller ID will display. If you don’t inform them, dont expect many people to pick up.

2.Caller ID Display – make sure when you call it doesn’t display a name like “Online Marketing Inc”, your asking to be ignored. Name it something inviting and discrete.

3.Plant A Seed – for the future. Sell sell sell, if you have a product that you know will help others reach a better lifestyle, don’t be ashamed of letting them know it’s there. Put a positive spin on it, tell them that they might be eligible for a free month’s VIP consultation, and tell them (don’t ask) that you will be making calls next month if they are eligible. That consultation could be part of a continuity program. My point is, do something with the opportunity.

Building A Community

If you have ever been part of the network marketing industry you know exactly what I’m talking about. These companies build their fortunes by breeding communities. These are some of the behaviors I’ve learned to apply from network marketing to my business.

Make them feel the best when they’re with you than with anyone else. I remember going down to San Diego with a bunch of my buddies for a convention for our company, in a great hotel, with a bunch of other great people we looked up to. They made us feel important, “the Young Gunz” they started to call us. Later on that day we where in a convention with a couple hundred other people, some keynote speakers called us out by name, made us feel like stars, peope were coming up to me and my other friends telling us how lucky we were to have learned and achieved at such a young age. We felt like we belonged there and that we were accepted by everyone.

You can do the same with your community, make them feel like stars!, give them special certificates(mail them or make them downloadable). If they have profiles (which they should), let them display badges that they have earned though different achievements to show others how much they have done. The recognition well make them feel accepted and that they belong there, a perfect formula for retention.

I hope you found value on today’s post. If you did please share this with you’re Twitter and Facebook friends, or anyone else you think could gain from this. I would also love to hear what you think, everyone’s input is valuable to me as this is for you and your success.
One of the most profitable moves your company can make is building customer retention programs (To be clear by company I mean membership sites, retails stores, if you sell products and services period, this post will benefit you). This way you’re able to build loyal customers who will purchase your products and services on a continuous basis and be able to retain contact for the longest possible time. How? Incentivize the long term commitment.

There are 5 main ways you can do this: loyalty programs, anchors, building anticipation, thank you calls and building a community environment.

Loyalty Programs

Loyalty programs are to keep your consumers loyal to your products and services in exchange for rewards for continued consumption.

There are good programs, like giving away gift cards when they spend a certain amount of money, or punch cards so the customer can keep track of how many more coffees he has to buy to get one free. There are also great examples that show the power of a great loyalty program. Rollover minutes is one of them. Every month you are able to keep the minutes you have not used the previous month, and the longer you stay the more minutes you tend to accumulate.

The great part of rollover minutes is not only the incentive, but the pain of disconnect that is felt if you were to change cell phone services. You don’t want the minutes you have earned to be taken away from you.

That is the secret to building a great loyalty program, making the disconnecting experience from your product or service a painful one. I don’t mean hurt them physically, I mean give them something that they will see so much value in, that they know they would resent leaving it.

Anchors

Anchors are the initial statements or words an individual associates with your product or service. The anchor can be a price amount that you display or the jingle to a commercial, but most people don’t realize how much of an impact these anchors can have for good or for worse, so listen closely.

Do not overuse the word FREE and do not use “short term” statements. The whole “get it FREE! NOW!” and “Lose 20 pounds in 10 days!” crap isn’t going to get you anywhere in the long term. Instant gratification statements like that will make you money, a good amount of prospects, but they are all near sighted and the cash will only be for the short term.A strong business builds a stable foundation that is for the long term.

Start building that strong business by broadcasting long term anchors like “one month trial” or “try my 12 month system free for 1 month”. When they opt-in to those offers, i guarantee you that you will see a different type of prospect, a prospect who is willing to commit longer and what do customers do when they stick around? They invest more money in your products. How much they invest is up to you, so make sure to take full advantage of that opportunity. Remember to study the anchors that are pitched to you in your everyday life. You will learn a lot.

I decided to make this a 2 part post, to accommodate those with the attention span of a bean (like me) and those who have a busy lifestyle. I hope you found value on today’s post. If you did please share this with your Twitter and Facebook friends, or anyone else you think could gain from this. I would also love to hear what you think.
